The name remained. So did the mystery.
Pink Bourbon was long described as a rare cross between Red and Yellow Bourbon. Recent genetic analysis of some sampled lots points instead towards Ethiopian landrace genetics. The science around the variety is still evolving. What is certain is what Rosada reveals in the cup — vivid, transparent and layered, with passion fruit, honey and a soft floral finish.
More than one score
88.25 points the way. The cup tells the story.
Today, the SCA looks at specialty coffee as more than a single total score. Aroma, flavour, variety, processing, origin and the people behind the coffee all shape its value. That is why we show the score without letting a number define Rosada on its own. This is a small, expressive release for those who want to taste what makes an exceptional coffee different.
How the SCA approaches specialty coffee todayPink Bourbon is the name used by producers and the coffee trade, though individual lots may differ genetically. We tell you what we know about this coffee — without inventing a prettier story than the one inside the bag.
